Understanding Water Lines in Relation to Landscaping and Hardscaping

Before starting any new project, we always contact 811 to mark the utilities at your property.

811 will mark your water meter box for us. However, the exact path of the water line from the meter to your house remains uncertain.

Typically, the water line runs towards the area where the water heater is located, commonly found in the garage or basement.

When we work at the front of your house, there is a 50/50 chance of inadvertently damaging the water line.

To mitigate this risk, we recommend installing tracing wire or tape along the top of the trench, though this is not a common practice and may require additional planning.

We also strongly advise homeowners to familiarize themselves with the locations of their shut-off valves, both inside the home and at the meter.
