There are over 400 Varieties of the Holly plant. 


Some are tree formed and others are shrub formed.


The genus name for Holly is ILex 


Hollies are an evergreen plant that can withstand cold and drought. 


They come in many shapes and sizes, from 18 inches to over 50 feet tall. 


Hollies prefer slightly acidic, well-drained, organic soil and should be planted in full sun to partial shade.


Hollies are separated into male and female plants. 


The berries only grow on female Holly trees and the male trees must be nearby to help pollinate female flowers and ensure fruiting
